West Virginia bills itself as wild and wonderful. It certainly had wild origins, succeeding from the state of Virginia during the Civil War, it claimed the mountainous northwestern area for itself. In fact, West Virginia is the only state to fall entirely within the Appalachian region. This gives visitors access to beautiful vistas along with numerous recreational opportunities.
But West Virginia has numerous Main Streets as well. On our site we've only begun to cover what the state has to offer. We start in the Eastern Panhandle, known for being on the outer rings of the Washington metro area, with Shepherdstown, a not so typical college town. There are other places to visit in this region as well. We'll be adding more information on Harpers Ferry, known for its Civil War history and Berkeley Springs, known for its resorts and relaxing spas.
We're always looking for ways to update Destination Main Streets If you think we missed a Main Street that belongs on this site, please drop us a line. Go to the Contact Us page to send us an email. Send a brief description of the Main Street along with any other information you think would be helpful, including location and, if possible, links to the Main Street's site.
Thanks for your help in supporting this site.
