Florida

Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State, obviously due its frequent amount of sunshine. But residents and visitors in the summer time may find the name a bit misleading with the frequent midafternoon thunderstorms. And that's part of Florida's charm. The state has always been tricky to pin down.
It's most famous for its miles of coastline and beautiful beaches. And many of the Main Streets presented here make their home along Florida's coast. These include Cocoa Village, Melbourne, and New Smyrna Beach, whose Main Street actually dead ends on the beach.
But you'll find more as you drive inland. Many Main Streets are clustered around the large urban cores. Winter Park is an upscale area just outside of downtown Orlando. A little further north you have Sanford, a major antiques destination. And Celebration is a modern development built with a small town feel.

And a few Main Streets can even be located in the rural small towns that dot the hilly interior. DeLand is a college town and county seat. And Mount Dora is a shopping destination worth the scenic drive required to get there--even if you do feel like you're a million miles from the beach.
We're always looking for ways to update Destination Main Streets If you think we missed a Main Street that belongs on this site, please drop us a line. Go to the Contact Us page to send us an email. Send a brief description of the Main Street along with any other information you think would be helpful, including location and, if possible, links to the Main Street's site.
