This weekend's Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that DeLand is negotiating to have a mixed-use development built on a vacant lot on Woodland Avenue in downtown. One of the goals is to have more residents living downtown to help create a more vibrant atmosphere. But it's also important for the development to fit in with the historic character of the city as well.
